Default The crazy chests of Riverside, Part 2

Was doing some chest runs and found this golden gem of MYSTERY: wtf?

Can anyone tell me what THAT is from? I haven't a clue.

Everyone should really try doing some runs to them one of these days, it's the best

Well, from what I've seen, I'd suppose it was intended to be a Jade Weapon salvage item, but was later replaced by Mursaat Garments. Strange stuff tho.

All I get are white weapons and blue foci from the chests, even with favor. Are you killing mantle as you go? Could that somehow affect the quality of the drops?

I'm just running straight there. The run isn't for sweet items, in the sense of rares and tradestock...it's for laughing at all the oddities that pop out from them. Sometimes oddity = value, like when I found an ectoplasm or some charcoal, dyes, etc...but most times it's a useless collector item (albeit a rare one like an igneous shell or something from the UW/fissure or maybe even a "Jade Gorget" or "Gruesome Sternum" heh).

Just gotta have the mindset that you're doing them to make ~400 gold a run and are not going to find any blockbusters. If you do them as such, they're awesome fun.

do you keep all the crazy stuff you find? such as collector items ... there's always the thought of collecting sometihng and finding later on in an update its worth the collecting, then again it might just be a waste of slot space

I just started donig these chest runs today, while it's not much of a monkeymaker (unless you get a nice coin drop or ecto/shard), it's a lot of fun to see what you get, and the salvage items are nice, you can collect a lot of materials by running these chests. It seems they must of hit the select all button when determining salvage drops from these chest, as I have gotten drops from what seems to be Old Ascalon, all the way up to the ToA salvage drops. But yet weapons seem to be on par with the area, as I haven't seen anything outrageous ,they all seem to be made for the level you would be normally in Riverside. Guess i'll enjoy the unique chest drops while I can.

While thinknig about it, I'd love to see an instanced raid area where after killing off the boss you have a chest drop that gives a lot of random items, very similar to this. It's a lot of fun opening thse chests, unlike the loot system in the rest of the game, which is boring since they tried to kill farming. Plus other chests in the game either give very weak weapons, or a general coin drop, nothing cool or interesting normally happens with them.

Today, I got a "Bloodstained Jerkin", a salvage item worth 30. It uses a typical salvage armor icon like robes and tengu armor, but I have never once seen or heard of this before? Anyone ever seen this drop before, and if so what is it that drops it?

Btw, this is a lot of fun, and even profitable!

These chests seem to drop monster parts from everywhere in the game. Back in the BWE, I found iridescent griffin wings from them before the desert region was even revealed.

I've noticed the interesting drops as well at these chests. Not like its a farming location unless you get lucky (which I haven't), but it intrigued me enough to make several runs just to see what pops out.

lol they aren't secret at all. You walk right by them on the Riverside mission, in the first undead area. That should be sufficient for you to locate them.
